This first post is designed to give you a glimpse into our “why” and what you can expect from us in the coming weeks and months.
We spent a chunk of 2024 developing the expectations and structure of the fund.
Now we’re thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of the VCR Fund in 2025! This innovative venture fund is designed to create significant economic opportunities by leveraging the expertise of our General Partners (GPs) and the strong affiliations with one of Orange County’s leading universities.
Why VCR Fund?
The VCR Fund is not just another venture fund. It is a strategic initiative aimed at driving paradigm shifts in key industries through targeted investments. Our focus areas are called “Innovation Vectors” and include three areas where the future will be made:
- Future of Entertainment: Leveraging leadership in film, media, live events, amusement parks, e-sports, and gaming.
- Future of Place: Innovating in PropTech, Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and digital/physical augmentation.
- Future of Healthcare: Advancing applied health and life sciences.
For Limited Partners (LPs)
As an LP, you will be part of a fund that prioritizes real-world returns and impactful investments. Our standard “commitment and call” model ensures that your investment is tied to specific deals, providing transparency and control. With a target of $10M and a 10-year fund duration, the majority of investments will be made in the first three years, offering early and significant opportunities for returns.
For Start-Ups
Start-ups will benefit from our proprietary deal access and the extensive network of our GPs and affiliates. We are committed to supporting high-potential ventures with a focus on founder-forward and team-driven businesses. Our first four deals will be crucial and we are actively scouting for awesome start-ups.
Student Development
We are also dedicated to providing real-world venture fund experience for top-notch students through our exclusive Venture Fellowship program. This 1.5-2 year program will be a differentiating building block for their careers, offering true venture fund experience.
Recent Accomplishments
We are proud to share that we have already secured the first investment commitment to the fund and launch the fund. We have also received committed support from a long-standing financial service’s venturing arm and buy-in from key stakeholders.
